Localization of Flash Movies

Localizing Flash Movies involves identification and localization of 2 groups of texts:

• 1. The localizable text in the ActionSpcript
• 2. The localizable static text existing in any movie clips, buttons, or graphics symbols.
  
  

In a Flash movie, there can be thousands of lines of Action Script codes. And movie clips can be nested multiple times in many Flash presentations. Identifying all the localizable text can then be time consuming and error prone. Adequate and complete commenting is key to lowering programming cost and reducing errors. Another challenge the localization engineers face is the expansion of the text. Additional space in the text fields must be reserved to account the general 20-30% text expansion when converting from English to target languages.
